The Mandalorian season 2 kept rolling on Disney Plus Friday, with a super interesting third episode to follow last weeks wacky, weird detour and Baby Yodas ethically dubious eating habits. This is a huge one for fans of The Clone Wars, but theres plenty to enjoy even if you havent viewed the CGI animated series (you ought to though, its so good and its all on Disneys streaming service).
Episode 3, titled The Heiress, was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. She directed season 1s fourth episode and her daddy, Ron Howard, directed 2018s Solo. This episode was composed by series developer Jon Favreau and sees Mando (Pedro Pascal) continuing his mission to find other Mandos as he attempts to reunite Baby Yoda (aka The Child) with his own kind..

The Way of the Mandalore is likely a fundamentalist analysis of previous Mandalorian leaders mentors. Unlike Mando and his buddies from last season, Bo-Katan and her team have no problem with taking off their helmets around other individuals (hurray for consuming in public!).
Mando likewise believes the planet Mandalore is “cursed” and everyone who goes there dies– this is likely misinformation (how topical) planted by the Empire to keep the Mandalorians divided, so they wont have the numbers to take their homeworld back.
Outright badasses.

Long live the Empire.
After Mando and his new Clan Kryze awesomely storm the Imperial truck, Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) orders the captain (Titus Welliver, who played the Smoke Monster in Lost) to murder the flight team and crash the ship so the Mandalorians cant get the weapons.
It suggests Gideons Imperial Remnant is quite cult-like too. The reactions of the young Imperial gatekeeper (Philip Alexander) actually sell us on how extreme its become; he clearly understands theyre screwed when the Mandalorians come aboard, and then his employer eliminates him.
Bo-Katan likewise discovers that Gideon has the Darksaber, so shell be gunning for him next. She requires to get it back so she can reunite Mandalores scattered clans.
Infant Yoda has a brand-new pal, and it does not look like he desires to consume this one.

Child Yoda minutes.
In spite of all the Mandalorian lore, Baby Yoda gets some nice character development in this episode. He goes from chillingly demolishing Frog Ladys eggs in the previous episode to forming a heartwarming connection with the Frog couples first-born.
When the sleazy Quarren knocks the little person into the Mamacores feeding pool, theres likewise a gut-wrenching minute. Hes protected by his pod, but Mando is understandably gone crazy (I definitely shared his scary).

Bo-Katan exposes that she and her fellow Clan Kryze members– all three have the very same symbol on their shoulders– are on Trask to seize weapons so they can retake their homeworld Mandalore (which is presumably occupied by the Imperial Remnant).
Much more amazing, she eventually sends out Mando to discover previous Jedi Ahsoka Tano, another Clone Wars alumnus, in the city of Calodan on the forest planet of Corvus.

Koska Reeves, Bo-Katan Kryze and Axe Woves have some revelations for Mando.

Child of the Watch.
This episode disposes a lot of tradition on us, however its all incredibly cool. We find out that Mando and the intense group of Mandalorians he was with in season 1 are actually a “cult of religious zealots that broke away from Mandalorian society.” According to Bo-Katan, they wish to reestablish the ancient Way– the Way of the Mandalore.
Its likely this group is a spin-off of the Death Watch, a dissenting group that opposed Mandalores pacifist government throughout the Clone Wars. Bo-Katan belonged to this group until they joined Darth Maul (who was obviously absolutely nothing but problem), at which point she allied with Ahsoka to boot the previous Sith off Mandalore. Did I discuss how excellent The Clone Wars is?
We currently understood Mando was rescued by Death Watch members as a child, after his moms and dads were killed during the Clone Wars. Most likely the indoctrination started soon after that.

You might wish to switch on the subtitles for this episode, since there are fish people I discovered hard to hear. Lets jetpack into an ocean of SPOILERS.
Shes back.
Quickly after getting here on the watery moon of Trask and reuniting Frog-Lady with her partner, Mando and Baby Yoda are rescued from a scary situation by fellow Mandalorians Bo-Katan Kryze, Koska Reeves and Axe Woves (played by Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica popularity, Mercedes Varnado, better called WWE wrestler Sasha Banks, and Simon Kassianides, whom you may acknowledge from Agents of S.H.I.E.LD)..
Bo-Katan was a routine in The Clone Wars– she showed up in the amazing last arc earlier this year– and followup CGI series Rebels. Bo-Katan held the Darksaber and united the clans of Mandalore in the last season of Rebels, but Imperial Moff Gideon took the weapon in the years in between that show and this one.

Whats brand-new to stream for November 2020.

This episode disposes an entire lot of lore on us, but its all extremely cool. Bo-Katan was part of this group till they joined Darth Maul (who was undoubtedly nothing but trouble), at which point she allied with Ahsoka to boot the former Sith off Mandalore.

Return for more Easter eggs and observations next Friday, after episode 4 of The Mandalorian season 2 hits Disney Plus.

Bo-Katan points out that shes the last of her line, so Mandalore wont have an heir evident if shes killed. I suspect she will be, and Mando will take the throne.
Hell probably relax about the helmet removal guideline too, so well see Pedro Pascals face again.
” Put some tea on. Well be up in a minute.” Bo-Katan ridicules the Imperials in a manner after my own heart.
The Imperial captain bites into a suicide tablet with a Star Wars twist; it appears to be an electronic implant in his tooth.
In between this and the previous episode, the Razor Crest has actually been through a rough time. Its got a whole brand-new Mon Cal-style look now, and appears worryingly rickety.
Its surprisingly touching when Frog Lady reunites with her other half, considering we simply met her in the last episode. Hes credited as Frog Man (John Cameron)– I was hoping he d be “Frog Gentleman.”.
” Dont have fun with your food.” Chowder exists in Star Wars, however its much scarier than it is in reality.
Mando paid with the Calamari flan Greef Carga provided him in the very first episode.
Theres some cool modified tech, like an Imperial Walker developed into a crane and a Hammerhead cruiser (as seen in Rogue One) being utilized as a sea vessel.

Easter observations and eggs.
