REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration( Reuters) – Facebook Inc FB.O on Monday released a free-to-play cloud gaming feature on its social media platform, allowing users to stream and play video games like “Asphalt 9: Legends” and “WWE SuperCard” without downloading them.
” Were not spinning off a separate cloud video gaming service,” the business said in a blog here post, including that all cloud-streamed video games can be used the platforms gaming tab or News Feed.
Facebooks video gaming feature is smaller in scale than premium cloud-based video game streaming services like Googles GOOGL.O Stadia, Nvidias NVDA.O GeForce NOW or Amazon.coms AMZN.O Luna, which are competing for users in a high-growth market.
The function will be available to Android and web users in the meantime, Facebook said, while it was working on alternative options to introduce the feature on Apples AAPL.O iOS.
” Apple deals with video games in a different way and continues to exert control over an extremely precious resource,” the business stated, including it is unsure if introducing on Apples app shop is a “feasible” path.
